What is a Rail Shoulder?
A rail shoulder is a component used in railway tracks that provides stability by securing the rail clips to the sleeper. They can be either "cast-in," pre-embedded in concrete sleepers during manufacturing, or "weld-on," which are welded onto steel sleepers or base plates. Rail shoulders are crucial for fastening the rail, distributing load, and preventing rail displacement and deformation.

Cast-in rail shoulders are iron components pre-embedded into concrete railway sleepers to provide a secure anchor point for elastic rail clips. This system is used to fasten the rail to the sleeper, ensuring stability and load capacity for the track, especially in new construction projects. The shoulder is pressed into the concrete sleeper before the track is assembled with an elastic clip, which is then used to secure the rail.

How to make the Rail Shoulder? – Lost Foam Technology
Lost Foam is a unique casting process which is ideally suited to the manufacturing of geometrically complex parts with one cast. The main characteristic of the process – as already stated in the name "Lost Foam" – is the use of "lost" patterns made of organic foam materials. The patterns are inserted into a mould material that is free of bonding agents by using vibration compression. During casting, the pattern is then pyrolysed by the molten steel, thereby creating a hollow space which the molten steel fills up. In this way, an exact metallic cast copy of the pattern is created. In addition to the possible geometric complexity, Lost Foam cast parts distinguish themselves through their excellent surface qualities and dimensional accuracy.

rail fastening Packaging & Delivery
Prior to shipment packaging of railway fasteners, classification and sorting, as well as thread protection, must be carried out. Bolts and other threaded fasteners are individually sleeved with thread protectors to avoid thread damage, deformation, or blockage by foreign objects during transportation. The protectors are made of wear-resistant polyethylene material, ensuring a tight fit to the thread structure. For small flat fasteners such as washers and spring washers, partitioned plastic boxes are used for separate packaging by quantity, with each compartment labeled with specifications, and the box cover sealed with snap-fasteners to prevent part leakage. After completing basic protection, various packaging units are placed into reinforced corrugated cardboard boxes according to order ratios. Bubble cushioning pads are laid inside the boxes, and the top of the boxes is sealed with cardboard. Then, nylon strapping bands are used for diagonal cross strapping, with strapping nodes secured with metal buckles, to enhance packaging firmness.
