A railroad plate is placed between the railroad track and the railroad tie. They are usually made of steel by rolling, forging or casting and fit for various rail section such as UIC60, UIC54, RN45, 90A, etc..

A tie plate, baseplate or sole plate is a steel plate used on rail tracks between flanged T rail and the crossties. The tie plate increases bearing area and holds the rail to correct gauge. They are fastened to wooden ties by means of spikes or bolts through holes in the plate.

The railway rail and the sleeper are connected by a metal underlay under the rail. The under-metal pad is one of the important fasteners for fixing the rail, and is also the main force-supporting component for supporting the rail. The precision forging high-speed rail tie plate pad replaces the original casting process by forging process, and its inherent quality is significantly superior to the original casting product.
Rail Tie Plate Characteristics
- The internal structure is fine. The forged tie plate can ensure the continuity of the metal fiber structure, so that the fiber structure of the forging is consistent with the shape of the forging, the metal flow line is complete, and the internal organization is uniform. During the test, the parts can be found along the longitudinal direction. A very complete and distinct forged fiber streamline.
- Uniform chemical composition. The chemical composition of the precision forged tie plate can ensure that the grain is fine and dense, no bubbles shrinkage, no component segregation, no impurity residue.

- Enhanced mechanical properties. The tie plate produced by the precision forging process has high strength and good toughness, and the pad is subjected to a bending test at a 90-degree angle. After the bending test, the pad does not show any crack.
- Product quality is stable. The high-iron rail tie plate produced from low-carbon high-strength steel can be operated in an environment with a speed of over 250km/h and a temperature of -40 °C to +70 °C.

Types of railway tie plate

Up to now, we have successfully produced the various types of dies for rail tie plates, such as 11 inches, 14 inches and 14-3/4 inch for both 5-1/2 and 6 inch rail tie plates.

Among these three types of production processes of rail tie plates, casting is a common technology and it is also the most cost-effective way. As rail tie plate is a hot sale of for us, we have two casting workshops for casting materials especially. We are capable to develop die from most modern way to ensure the precise dimensions of tie plates, from hot pre-coated sand or machining way.

In our plant, we own 300T~1600T forging friction press and 7 die forging production lines with 5T electricity liquid hammers. Our forging annual capacity can reach up to 12000 tons of rail tie plates, and a capacity of 400,000 pieces of forging rail tie plates.
