1x5-1/8” ,1x6”,1x7” High Strength Screw Spikes

The screw spike is also known as rail screw. As one kind of Rail spike, it is a metal screw for fixing rail fasteners. Screw spike is usually made of NO.3 steel. Because its nail rod surface has thread, so it is called screw spike. The pull-out resistance is 0.5 ~ 1.0 times larger than that of common rail spike, but the thrust resistance is 50% less. Due to disassembly and assembly inconvenience, it is difficult to adjust the rail gauge, which is generally used on the railway turnout.

These specific sizes-1×5-1/8 inch, 1×6 inch, and 1×7 inch-represent combinations of shank diameter and length, designed to accommodate different load requirements and sleeper thicknesses. Their high-strength characteristics arise from the selection of manufacturing materials and processing methods. Typically, they are made from high-quality medium-carbon or alloy steel and undergo precise heat treatment, resulting in high tensile strength, excellent shear resistance, and sufficient toughness, enabling them to withstand the significant dynamic loads imposed by heavy-haul and high-speed railway operations.

Surface treatment is a critical factor in ensuring the service life of spikes. In addition to standard oil-based anti-rust coating, advanced corrosion protection options such as galvanization, Dacromet, or epoxy coatings can be applied. These coatings effectively isolate the spikes from moisture, salts, and other corrosive agents, significantly enhancing their durability in harsh environments and reducing maintenance requirements.
