Dog Spike Used in Wooden Sleeper or Ties

The dog spike is used to fasten T-shaped rail road track to wooden ties, which has an L-shaped head and square shank, and the underside of whose head is sloped to fit the top surface of the rail base. Spikes with various sizes are provided to meet the different requirements of penetrating length of spikes. The common track spikes are the 5/8"*6" and the 9/16"*5-1/2" for smaller rail sections, and they are usually secured in either 200 lb. kegs or 50 lb. kegs.

Screw spike

Screw spike is also called sleeper screw, rail screw, through specific requirements such as length, diameter, drive head and thread profiles, the railway screw spikes can be classified into four types, including the Ss series sleeper screw, the square-head screw spike, the hexagon screw spike, and the double-head screw spike.

Lock Spikes

The Tie Plate employ spring compression to hold tie plates firmly in place on cross ties and bridge timbers. They can be driven with standard track tools. Spikes are placed on the diagonally opposite hold-down holes of the tie plate and driven in prebored holes in the tie. Holes of 9/16 in. diameter are drilled to a depth of 7 in. below the top of the tie plate. Spikes are available in 6 in. or 7 in. lengths. Two lock spikes normally are used in conjunction with two standard cut spikes in each tie plate.
