What is Under Sleeper Pads

Under Rail Sleeper Pad is an elastic buffer component installed between the steel rail and the sleeper in the railway track structure. It is an important part of the sleeper support system.Under Sleeper Pad (USP) solutions reduce maintenance requirements, increase track quality and provide vibration attenuation to Ballasted Track.

Under Sleeper Pads are specially designed for application under concrete sleeper for ballasted track. They can be manufactured with a specific non woven layer for assembly into wet concrete during the sleeper production process.

Its main function is to distribute the wheel load pressure during train operation, absorb impact energy, and reduce the dynamic stress between the rail and the sleeper. This effectively extends the service life of the sleeper, rail, and track fasteners. Under Rail Sleeper Pads are commonly used in high-speed railways, heavy-haul railways, and urban rail transit systems, especially in environments with strict vibration requirements.

The systems are easy to install, maintenance free and compatible with all types of track design; with their use also proven to reduce the life-cycle cost of the railway. When USPs are installed, the stress within each sleeper is reduced due to a more even distribution of axle load.

• USP are made from high-quality resin-bonded rubbers. Depending on the project, the design parameters can be adjusted to achieve a vibration attenuation target whilst also ensuring track quality.
