However, to ensure long-term safety and stable performance, several key points must be considered during the use and installation of QU120 rails.
Firstly, it is essential to select the rail material according to actual working conditions. QU120 is typically manufactured from U71Mn high manganese steel or high-quality alloy steel. When used in high-temperature, heavy-load, or corrosive environments, rails that have undergone heat treatment and quenching processes should be prioritized to improve fatigue and crack resistance.
Secondly, the rail foundation construction must strictly control flatness and track gauge deviation to ensure uniform force distribution along the rail. Otherwise, it may cause uneven head wear or local deformation, thereby shortening the rail's service life.
In addition, during the operation of port cranes or heavy-duty equipment in industrial plants, it is necessary to regularly inspect the rail surface for cracks, indentations, spalling, or corrugation wear. The rail joints should remain tight, and the fishplate bolts must have sufficient pre-tightening force to prevent rail gaps from widening or misalignment.
If the rail is exposed to salt spray or humid environments for a long time, regular anti-rust maintenance and lubrication are also required.
