what is a rail anchor?
A rail anchor is a steel device, often a spring steel clip, that is clamped to the base of a steel rail to prevent it from moving longitudinally along the track. It works by bearing against the side of the railroad tie (or sleeper) and holds the rail in place against forces from temperature changes, vibration, and train traffic. This prevents the rails from "creeping" and helps maintain the proper alignment and gauge of the track.
Available types of rail anchors
Rail anchors vary in shapes, such as Improved Fair, Unit V or Channeled, with processing way of rolling, forging or casting. The latter two types are usually produced by casting, due to its complicated bending.
We produce different types of rail anchors to compromise different rail sections including 85LB, 90LB, 115RE, 132REm UIC54, UIC60, 50kg, etc.
Anchor materials: Carbon steel, stainless steel, F436M, SS304, SS316L, SPRING, TAPER, PLATE, SS316 etc. with "CE" certificate for Europe.
Finish: yellow/blue/white zinc plated, hot dip galvanized.
Wedge anchor with single/double clip type available.
How are Rail Anchors manufactured?
Rail anchors are manufactured using methods such as rolling, forging, or casting, often from spring steel or other high-strength steel alloys. For one-piece spring steel designs, they are forged and heat-treated to create a strong, elastic product. For more complex shapes, like wedge or V-type anchors, casting is commonly used, where molten metal is poured into a mold and then cooled.
Packaging & Transportation
Anchors are packaged with moisture and rust protection, reinforced on pallets or wooden crates, labeled with model and batch numbers, and accompanied by inspection reports and packing lists. Full-container or LCL shipments are available, along with export documentation and third-party inspection services.
