Why are rail clamps used in railways?
Rail clamps are used to secure railway tracks, fix rails to sleepers, maintain a consistent gauge, and provide stability for both the track and equipment operating on it. They prevent rails from moving horizontally or vertically, ensure continuity at joints, and are vital for safety during maintenance or emergencies. Specialized clamps are also used to attach heavy machinery, such as excavators, to the rails for stability during maintenance work.
